Sugar Flowers with Bria - The Classics
Come expand your sugar flower repertoire this spring at Flourish Cake Design! This three-day class with cake designer and sugar flower artist Bria Helgerson will guide you through her techniques to craft flowers that will be requested time and time again. Beloved by florists & clients alike, we will explore some of the most common wedding cake flowers such as roses, spray roses, sweet peas, peonies, lisianthus, hydrangeas, and various types of foliage & other fillers. We will explore paper-thin petals, movement both within the flowers and throughout the arrangement on a cake, often overlooked 'filler' flowers, and the color journey of a sugar petal/leaf. This class is designed for cake artists with previous gum paste experience, but all levels of experience welcome.
The Details
Class is held from 9:00am-5:00pm January 18th, 19th, & 20th Monday-Wednesday with lunch provided each day. (students are welcome to stay longer if wanted, no teaching will be done after 5:00 pm, and students are not expected to stay past 5:00 pm)
All tools & materials needed will be provided for use during class.
Students will take home a 2 tier faux cake with their sugar flower arrangement (if airline travel is involved, we will pack the sugar flowers for carry on)
Small group - max 4 students. This will be an intimate class, giving each student maximum attention, with time to ask questions and work through any obstacles with Bria.
Flowers may include (not limited to and subject to change) :
Classic rose, miniature spray roses, peonies, lisianthus, sweet peas, and various types of foliage & fillers.
Flourish Cake Design is located in the West Town neighborhood of Chicago, IL and is easily accessible by public transportation. Free street parking is abundant.

Cancellation Terms
Cancellations will not receive a refund unless there is a waiting list. If you need to cancel and there is not a waiting list, we will try our best to apply your payment towards a future workshop.
Class is subject to cancellation by Flourish if minimum capacity is not met, in this case, all booked students will receive a full refund.
